Mission

The mission of the National Belgian Futurity is to create and maintain a nationally recognized and revered venue to showcase both the breeding programs of its membership and the Belgian horse.

History

Since the NBF was established in 1994, more than 1800 horses have participated. The single highest paying premium-per-entry for any Belgian exhibition in the U.S. is attributable to the unparalleled support shown by the NBF.

Once again, this year’s Futurity has the quality entries and sound financial support necessary for a successful outcome. The NBF Committee wishes to thank all who have provided support for the program, including the breeders, exhibitors, corporate sponsors and individual donors. Best of luck to all participants in this year’s National Belgian Futurity.

The Four Divisions

The National Belgian Futurity will be shown each year in four divisions — Weanling, Yearling, Two Year- Old, and a Three Year-Old class coming.

What Foals are Eligible

All foals shown must be the produce of stallions and mares that are nominated in the National Belgian Futurity and registered with the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation.

How to Nominate the Sire

To nominate a stallion in the Futurity it is necessary:

  1. That the stallion be registered with the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation.
  2. That a fee of $75.00 be paid to the Futurity on or before July 1 of the year the foal is nominated. A late fee of $25.00 if paid after July 1 (postmarked) and by July 31st of current year (postmarked).
  3. A copy of the Stallion’s registration papers (front and back) must be submitted with the nomination. This annual nomination is the Stallion Owner’s responsibility.

How to Nominate the Dam

To nominate a Dam in the Futurity it is necessary:

  1. The dam must be registered with the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation.
  2. Must send copy of registration papers (front and back) with nomination of weanling.

How to Make a Weanling Eligible

A late fee of $25.00 (in addition of the original $25 entry fee) if paid after July 1st (postmarked) and by July 31st of current year (postmarked). If foal is due after July 1st, make payments by deadline. Fees will be reimbursed if foal is born dead.

What Else I Should Know

The National Belgian Futurity Show is held at the Indiana State Fair.

As of 2014 the NBF voted to do away with the additional fee required of Canadian bred horses to participate in the NBF program.

The NBF is a recognized Belgian Merit Program show.

New Regulation for Late Entries: Weanlings are permitted to be nominated, as late entries up until the day of the show (Indiana State Fair). All paperwork must be turned in to the Belgian Corporation Secretary or the Candian Association Secretary.

There will be no return of payment. The right is reserved to reject any entry, and to disqualify any entry from competition for failure to comply with the conditions of the Futurity.

The judges for the Futurity will be chosen by the National Belgian Futurity Committee.

MANAGEMENT ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY TO REMIND NOMINATORS OF PAYMENT DUE. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR.
